The Shanghai stadium is the official venue for the Olympic football games in Shanghai. Built in 1997 it is known in Chinese as the '80,000 people's stadium' in accordance with its capacity. It is the second largest stadium in China after the Beijing National Stadium.
The Shanghai Stadium is situated near Xujiahui which is a busy shopping and residential area full of malls and restaurants.
